This one-day workshop is perfect for beginners looking to learn a new technique or for those wishing to expand their knowledge of linocut printing.
You will be taught the principles of designing for print, how to separate your design into two colours, methods for cutting lino, and how to print a two colour reduction print.

Make a Wood Engraving Christmas Card
This one day course is suitable for beginners or those who have had some wood engraving experience and would like to create their own engraved Christmas card design with Robin’s guidance.
Over the day you will come up with a suitable design, engrave it using traditional wood engraving tools and hand print your block. You will then leave your block with Robin who will print you an edition of 10 copies. Envelopes will be provided and blocks and cards can be collected or posted out 1 week later.

Handprinted Two day - Introduction to Wood Engraving
Join printmaker Robin Mackenzie on this introduction to wood engraving and learn the skills and techniques of a fascinating relief printing process. Over the two days you will be taught the principles of designing for wood engraving, methods of engraving into blocks of end grain wood and how to print, both by hand and using a press.
We will experiment with the myriad of marks and textures possible with the technique and print in both colour and black and white. There will be inspirational resources available and we will explore contextual examples of wood engraving through the ages.
